Wall of Martyr's Scenery Painting

Quick late post for today, with the new Knights literally just around the corner I've been helping out with some new scenery for a Pacific Rim themed game we have planned in Games Workshop Inverness in the near future:

The glowy green patches are Tyranid Bio-Plasma damage... took quite a while drilling lots of holes but the finished effect was worth it I think.

Dark Eldar Dhow, Mechanicum Castellax and Inquisitor - Playing Hobby Catch Up

With only a few hours to spare I've managed to complete the Dark Eldar Dhow for a painting/modelling comp themed on vehicles at my local GW:

I've also decided to add a little more colour to my Mechanicum Castellax in recognition of their recent outstanding performance on the tabletop (I'm also waiting for a 4th one to arrive from Forge World to add to the maniple):

And finally as the conclusion to the campaign that we're playing up here in Inverness edges closer one of the pivotal 'good guys' is getting ready to begin making appearances:

X-Wing Miniatures YT-1300 Conversion - completed

Trying to get a flat decorated can seriously chew into hobby time but needing to get my painting table clear to finish up a commission I decided to get this done:

Here's the stock YT-1300 next to the modified Millenium Falcon:

It's not the best photo but you can just about make out the engine glow I painted in on both of them:

Hobby Sunday - or getting my mojo back!

Today has been something of a productive day hobby-wise with work done on a competition entry and initial shading work done on the YT-1300 conversion I posted up this morning.

The keen eyed amongst you might spot that this Dark Eldar Raider isn't in fact a Raider. It started out as one but it's now a Dhow - a civilian vessel more likely to be seen flitting between spires in Commorragh than on realspace raids.

Now the YT-1300. I'm trying to plan out markings for this baby as she just wouldn't look right in plain grey. I'm thinking of adding some crimson/red to her to try to make it look like the smuggler who owns her is using diplomatic immunity (or perhaps just trying to claim it):

X-Wing Miniatures YT-1300 Conversion

I've never posted anything like this before because I've never done anything like this before. Many people will probably know that the Millennium Falcon is but one example of Corellian Engineering Corporations YT-1300 series. With this in mind and having acquired a second 'Falcon for my growing X-Wing fleet I decided to convert one of them so that I had two unique ships.

The first step was to remove the cockpit from the starboard side of the Falcon:

Once that was done the centre of the bow was trimmed down to allow me to position the cockpit there and the gaps left by the removal of the cockpit access corridor were filled with plasticard:

Finally for today the whole ship received a light spray of grey primer so it can be re-shaded and painted:

I'd be remiss if I didn't thank 'Tuz' over at Hobby Before I Die for the inspiration for this conversion as well as his fantastic step by step on how he did his which I haven't copied directly - I wanted my own unique YT-1300. You shoud go check out his blog as he's got some great miniatures stuff over there.

Yes it's another Horus Heresy list! This is what I'll be aiming to build for 2014. I already own all of the mini's in the list above and there are enough points left for me to fit in another Sicaran (or possibly even Sicaran Venator) if/when I can afford to...

Using pride of the Legion regrettably prohibits me from fielding my Mechanicum Maniple as an allied detachment but I'm sure most opponents wouldn't make too much of an issue of this in friendly games.
